There are thousands of companies that offer web hosting services on their own server, and it varies greatly in terms of what services they offer additionally, such as own website builder, email services, web design, registrar service, etc.
Which web host is chosen for your website is usually controlled by the person who builds/develops the website for you. So if you go to a large web design company that has its own server, your website will most likely be on their server/web hosting company.
When I am going to create your website, I find the web hosting/hosting service that best suits the solution we have come up with. Single CMS systeem also works as web hosting, while other solutions imply that CMS and web hosting are separate services. For example, if I create your website in Wordpress, we need to have an external web hosting, while in is everything included in Webflow
Whether a web host is good or not depends on several things, but security, ease of use and price are factors that are important to emphasize. As a web designer, I prefer web hosting where I can make changes myself in relation to DNS and name servers, which is time-saving when publishing a web page. However, some web hosts do not allow this, so changes must go via them.
Another factor I think is important is whether it is possible to create a temporary URL (url) and use it while the website is being developed. If you already have a website and want a new one, a temporary URL allows the website to stay up until the new one is finished. This means that there is no downtime where you are without a website.
