It can be tempting to use the same content in multiple places on your site, or to copy text from another site. However, this is not so wise. Most websites have copyright on their content, and if you use it without permission, you may be asked to remove it.
Google values unique content on its pages, and the same content on multiple pages, only leads to the pages not being indexed by Google. So it's a good idea to make sure that each page is unique and has relevant content in relation to what your site is about. Feel free to link to other websites, but only if it can complement your own informative and relevant content.
